A VOICE of NORTH EAST INDIA to the centre , ”save us ”

On August 31, 2011 Ban Theater, Tezpur  a seminar was held ( 22nd Harendra Nath Baruah Memorial Lecture)  on the topic ‘ The resource and problems of north east region- Attitude of the nation and the role of national media’.  Subir Bhowmic, the renown journalist cum political analyzer in this seminar raised some strong voices discussing different issues and problems related to North east India specially the problems of illegal migrants from Bangladesh and about various insurgent groups, their activities following Marxism or communism and poor roles of National media in this context .  Discussing about the immigrants people from Bangladesh, he briefly focused on the present scenario of north east saying why only West Bengal and Assam have to take burdens from illegal migrants, he also questioned to the central government why they are not taking strong initiatives to solve these problems as earlier as possible, ‘are these not national issues ‘. In this regard he also said that like  central govt. national media also has been neglecting north east India and never tries to focus on these issues so that these issues can rise strongly and come to a solution; also they have hardly a correspondent for north east. He also added why the people of this region must not protest against these illegal migrants as if they will not protest their identity will one day undoubtedly vanished, people  will suffer from identity crisis slowly if migration happens like today. So people must aware about their near future and should make a voice wholly against these foreigners coming continuously without any resistant. True but very shameful to say that our political leaders do not want a permanent solution and they using these migrants as their vote bank. Their intension is so poor in this matter that Assam accord was signed so many years ago but still it is not implemented properly. If this has been happening who will save North East India from turning to another Bangladesh, it’s a request to the centre ,’ do not look north east as step brothers and sisters’, he uttered.

He also spokes about various insurgent groups of north east India having armed struggle against mainland India following Marxism or communism. He said, Marxist does not understand ethnic nationalism (a form of sub nationalism being formed in various ethnic groups of north east India), they never try to understand this important concept of ethnicity and they always see the society as upper class and lower class division want to bring equality for all in society. This way these groups are gradually failed to mobilized their actual goal and society is divided into various parts and also lots of ethnic revolutionary groups are formed. By this way also almost all ethnic groups are demanding their own lands on the basis of language or their history. This way in a limited space and boundary  their demands t sub-merged into each other’s demands and ethnic clashes become probable in these days a very critical situation has been arising  in north is India. Greater Nagaland activity can be a good example in this observation. By this way it is sadly predictable that one day brothers will hungry for brother’s bloods.  It’s why an aching voice of north east India seeking help from the centre, ‘take lots of initiatives, strategy and steps so that  peace and prosperity build up in this region and saved and secured north east from foreigners remain long forever.’
